Effective since July 4, 2008, the City of Greenville required all food handlers within the City to obtain a Food Handler Card. In order to acquire this certification, all food handlers must take a class which conveys the proper procedures for handling food.
Some of the topics covered include, but are not limited to:
Proper hand washing
Lowering the risks of cross-contamination
Lowering the risk of food-borne illnesses
State Approved Certifications
The City recognizes all State approved certifications for food handler training, which are independently obtained. Information for approved training courses, including online training, can be found at the Texas Department of State Health Services website.
