Greenville Sports League offers a Winter Basketball league for children ages 5-14. Age is determined as of October 30, 2017. All age groups will be offered with a boys or girls division. Cost is $45 per player and teams will be formed through our Coach Look/Draft process for all divisions with the exception of 6 & under which teams will be formed in the Parks and Recreation office.

6 & under division (Ages 5-6) The purpose of this division is to be a developmental recreational league with a focus on developing fundamental skills and a basic understanding of basketball rules while keeping the games fun for the athletes. As a developmental recreational league, no score or standings are kept.
8 & under division (Ages 7-8) The purpose of this division is to be an introduction to competitive play. The focus should be on improving the confidence and comfort with the basketball while also introducing players to basic situational concepts. Having players play in multiple positions is encouraged. Teamwork becomes a more prevalent strategy.
10 & under division (Ages 9-10)
The purpose of this division is to be a continuation of fundamental skills developmental with a higher focus on team and situational awareness. Introduction to advanced basketball skills begins and players begin to develop greater basketball IQ. Play in multiple positions still encouraged for overall basketball development. Teams will play an 8 game season.
12 & under division (Ages 11-12)
The purpose of this division is to focus on continuing to develop fundamental skills while increasing court and situational awareness. Players begin defining their key skill positions.
14 & under division (Ages 13-14)
This is the last development stage before secondary competition. Skill development and advance basketball strategy are a priority in order to prepare for the high school competition level.
